Five things, and they fit in a short paragraph. The night and the hour you want. The length, taken from the ladder. The format, taken from the list on the services page. Then the area, the floor, and whatever the entrance asks for once the building has locked up for the night. And whether it is one guest or two. Everything else can follow.
A thread can be scrolled back. A figure typed out cannot be misremembered an hour later, a door code written down cannot be half heard, and a start time in writing settles any later question about notice in a way no conversation does. It also suits the hour: a guest who is tired can type in their own time, and a message that took four minutes to compose reads exactly like one that took forty seconds.
A request for money from an account you have not been given in the thread itself. A demand for a copy of a document. Anything asking you to move the conversation elsewhere to complete a payment. Two lines settle it: where the room is, and what time you want someone at the door. The answer comes back with a name, an arrival window and the whole figure, whatever the clock says.
